Student comments:

Excellent lecturer, tries to encourage engagement and helpful in office hours. Cares about the class and students and teaches the content well.

Engaged the class

Excellent at explaining topics. Could answer the off topic questions students had and related them back to our content

He was very helpful, he helped me to understand topics that I needed help with. He was also very helpful with any questions I had with the homework or practice questions we had in class.

Loves the topic of economics, can talk about it for hours without getting bored.

Probably one of the best professors that I've had at UF! He is extremely enthusiastic about the material, and super open to answering students' specific questions. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to to sit back, and break down a student's more complicated question into terms that are more easily accessible/understandable. In other words, economics is clearly a passion of his, and he is always willing to help explain how everything from the book/slides ties together. He really helped me wrap my head around macroeconomics at this level, and to tie all the different topics together, as opposed to just teaching each topic in isolation. Mr. Mathur was great in his strategy of teaching. He has the economic knowledge to explain the topic to us himself, and then enhance/ reiterate with the slideshow. People felt comfortable asking a wide range of questions because we could tell he knew what he was talking about.

The instructor was very approachable and cares deeply about his students' success.

Sankalp was very receptive to questions, responded to emails very clearly and promptly, and his Office Hours were very helpful.

Closely relates the course contents to real world events, enforcing understanding, fostering critical thinking.

Good at explaining the content, good PowerPoints.

Student Comments:

"Genuine care for students. Provided many opportunities to connect one on one with students and provide feedback. Thorough and engaging explanations of concepts with connection to real world situations."

"answering questions full and thoughtfully and wanting the students to understand and pass the cleass"

"This instructor has obviously done a lot of work with economics, and spent much time studying it. You can tell his understanding of ourclass topics is much deeper, and he has to dumb it down for us. He is super brilliant and very patient. He never gets frustrated when we don't understand but will explain it 100 times if he needs to. He never moves on to a new topic until the whole class understands it as well. He really cares about the student's success more than anything. You can really tell his goal was to teach us not just give us work or fill his lecture time. He often incorporated real world applications into class which I really appreciated. This also shows his level of expertise. He has been one of my only econ professors to actually teach the class what an economist would do rather than just what concept we'll be tested on. He is great! 10/10"

"Very good about answering questions and explaining the concepts/reasoning behind answers. Also very encouraging of questions and not judgemental of confusion. He is very willing to work with someone through the same concept until they get it."

"Good study resources."

"Very interested in the topic; helpful in office hours; provides good lecture notes/documents."

"I believe Professor Mathur was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the class. He was willing to help any student in need and give greater explanations when asked."

"He focused on reviewing material covered in previous classes so we wouldn't get lost with new information. The practice problems and real–world examples of course materials were beyond helpful."

"He was helpful with specific questions and explained the homework well"

"Great professor, he took his time to explain how to solve the problems in class and explained it very well."
